Armistice Day 2018

Remembrance Sunday.

The 11.11.18. marked the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The eldest of the Orticals marked their respect with a two minutes silence.
Cornelius sat quietly in his chair, whilst Sir Vival & Herr Rendous stood proudly saluting for the men & women who lost their lives through this awful war.

Why did the Orticals wear poppies?
Because poppies were the first flower to grow on the battlefields after the First World War ended.
Poppies are also sold because they help raise money for the servicemen & women who are still alive and whose lives have been changed because of a war.

Why did the Orticals have two minutes silence?
The silence was a time to remember those who lost their lives fighting for their country.

Why is silence so important?
These days it is very rare to have total silence. You will normally still hear a TV, radio or other noise going off. Silence allows you to disconnect from the world, reduces stress & anxiety and brings peace. Silence helps you open your mind, open your hidden feelings and think of memories.
So even though you may not know anyone from a war, silence is a good time just for yourself to sit & reflect.

Maybe you could try & sit for two minutes in silence every day?
Switch off from the busy world. Turn off your TV or computer game. Sit or lie down, breathe deeply & relax. Silence helps heal the body and mind. Try it and see how much better you feel after doing it.
